Add a Picture

A picture of your listed item can be a tremendous selling point. It gives the buyer more confidence and makes the item seem more tangible and real. We highly recommend that you include a picture whenever possible.

There are four basic steps that you need to follow, in order to post your picture online:

  1. First off, you need to capture your image electronically.
  2. Once you have secured your image you then need to edit it for scale and clarity.
  3. When you are happy with the quality of your image the next step is to post it online.
  4. And finally, you can link your image to your Motosoup.com ad listing.

Need a little more detail?

1.Capturing your image can be done one of three ways:

    • Using a Digital Camera, all you need to do is take a clear picture of your item and then download it to your hard drive.
    • Using a Traditional Camera. You can have your film processed in a digital format or you can scan (see our scanning service) your regular photo onto your hard drive.
    • Using a Video Camera

Alternatively, you may choose to pay someone or use the services of a store such as Kinko’s, MailBoxes Etc., and Kodak to have your image electronically captured.

2.Editing your image is not essential, but it enables you to manipulate your image for optimum clarity and presentation. Depending on your picture you may choose to crop it, enlarge it, brighten it up or even darken it up a little. If necessary, reduce the image size to reduce the risk of a lengthy download time that may cloud a buyer’s interest or attention.

It’s also very important that your image is saved in a file format that will work on the Internet. The two acceptable formats are JPG and GIF. We recommend using JPG for a sharper image.

In order to convert your image to a JPG or GIF format simply select the ‘Save As’ or ‘Export As’ functions, under the ‘File Menu’ and save your image as: yourimage.jpg or yourimage.gif.

3.Uploading your image to the Internet, allocates a specific location or URL (Universal Resource Locator) address that is exclusive to your image. This will enable us to locate your image and link it to your Motosoup.com ad listing.

Most Internet Service Providers (ISP's) supply their users with space where they can post images. If you are not aware of such a service, be sure to check with your Internet Service Provider for information on where you can store your JPG or GIF files.

There are also numerous sites on the Internet that offer image hosting services, for a very small fee. Some such sites are PixHost.com, Pongo.com, Sunweaver.com, Twaze.com, etc.

If you are an AOL user, type in keyword ‘My Place’ to learn about AOL image hosting services.

4.Linking your image is easy. Once you have a URL address for your image all you need to do is type or paste it, in your ‘PICTURE URL’ box, on our ‘SELL IT’ page. Please note that your URL address needs to be entered 100% correctly in order for the link to be successful. An example of a URL image address:

http://www.myweb.com/myphoto.jpg

Congratulations! Your Motosoup.com ad listing now features a picture of your item.
